BrewDog updates on international bar openings: Scottish brewer and retailer BrewDog has updated on its international bar opening plans. Openings are lined up in Stockholm, Rome, Brussels, Berlin with plans to open in Warsaw, Paris and Dublin. The company stated: “Work has moved forward in double-quick time for our second bar in the Swedish capital – BrewDog Södermalm is looking fantastic. We are still awaiting one final permit for us to confirm an actual opening date, but the finishing touches are being put in place and we hope to swing open the doors for our legion of fans in Stockholm within the next three weeks. The third BrewDog bar in Italy after BrewDog Bologna and BrewDog Firenze is still well on track and will be launching in Rome in the autumn. Located on Via Del Monte Oppio, a discus-throw from the Colosseum (if the camera could pan left here you’d see it), BrewDog Roma is destined to be one of our highest-profile bars in the world. Another bar running to a similar timescale is our site that is slap-bang in the centre of Brussels. This most historic and wide-reaching of beer cities was on our list pretty much from the moment we first compiled one, so we can’t wait to get it open. Located a discus-throw from the Central Station (if it’s still in the suitcase from your Rome visit), the old radio building is also round the corner from the symbolic heart of the city, the Grand Place. Work is progressing well, and if all goes to plan it should be open in September. Things are still on track for our long-awaited outpost in the heartland of the European beer scene – the first BrewDog location in Berlin. Still at the design stage, we are working hard to make this one of the coolest bars in a city with so many amazing drinking options. Located at Ackerstrasse 28 – a few minutes’ walk south of the Mauerpark – work should begin next month for an opening by the end of the year, and it will definitely be worth the wait. Straying towards the centre of the continent, we are also looking to plant a BrewDog flag in the capital of Poland. Warsaw is an energy-filled city that has taken to the world stage with ease, and we can’t wait to find a location there and play a part in one of Europe’s most under-rated beer scenes. We are currently scouting for potential sites that we can convert into a BrewDog Warszawa. BrewDog Paris is another city very much on our hit list – one that has been on that list from the very start. We are determined to do justice to this amazing metropolis, and find a location there that we can turn into a flagship European bar as BrewDog Paris. Once we do, expect some local flavour to be added to the BrewDog house style, as we celebrate the Auld Alliance with our first outpost in La Belle France. Whenever we put together a blog post about upcoming global bars – or upcoming bars for the UK, for that matter – the comments fly about Dublin more than almost any other. So we are very much listening, and are now actively hunting for a site to convert into BrewDog Dublin. The passion and knowledge of the Irish beer community is undeniable, and once we find the right spot, we’ll rock up and give craft beer fans in the Irish Republic somewhere truly special to head for.” The company listed Budapest, Amsterdam, Prague, Hong Kong and Singapore as other cities where it would like to open. Meanwhile, the company has taken on its first BrewDog USA employee and Keith Bennet, special projects and business development manager at BrewDog, will be heading to Ohio in the new few months as the company starts work on its new brewery. The 100,000 sq ft building that is being planned for the Columbus metro area in Canal Winchester, will house a 100-barrel brewing system and will employ approximately 100 people on a 42-acre site.
