Loungers to open 25 sites a year, to hit 75 openings this year: Loungers, the Bristol based café bar group, will reach 70 sites this week following the openings of Bevano Lounge in Urmston, Manchester earlier in the month, Metro Lounge in Amersham today (Wednesday) and the opening of the groups 11th Cosy Club in Coventry this Friday. Bevano Lounge, which opened on the 3 September, is located in Urmston’s Eden Square centre and is understood to have produced the largest ever first full week of sales for a Lounge. Metro Lounge in Amersham is located in a unit formerly occupied by the first ever Entertainer toy shop and opens followed a £550,000 investment. The group’s 70th site will be Cosy Club Coventry which is located in the Cathedral Lanes Shopping centre and opens following a £800,000 investment. The 6,000 square foot site, which includes a 40-cover first floor balcony joins Las Iguanas and Wagamama, who opened in the scheme earlier this month. Loungers managing director Nick Collins said: “We’ll reach another significant milestone on Friday with the opening of our 70th site. This is a great achievement for the business and for the tremendous team of people that work for Loungers and make it what it is. Bevano Lounge enjoyed a fantastic first week of sales and is showing all the early signs of being a great Lounge. Unbelievably we first started negotiating on the Amersham site six years ago so it’s great to finally be trading in the town and we’ve got a good feeling about our Coventry Cosy Club – there’s been a lot of interest locally leading up to the opening.” Collins’ also confirmed Loungers will reach its target of 75 sites by the end of the year with the opening of a further four Lounge sites in Clevedon (October), Newport (November), Swansea and Bury St Edmunds (both December) and one further Cosy Club in Bournemouth (November). It is understood that the group has also either secured or is an advanced legals on the 25 sites it intends to open in 2016. Collins said, “We’re going to hit our 2015 openings target and we’re well on course to open our 100th site by the end of next year. We’ve gradually ramped up the speed of the roll out and this has allowed the business to successfully adjust and adapt to the significant demands of increasing scale. We’re already doing deals for sites in 2017 and beyond and it is our intention to open 25 plus sites a year going forward.”
