New brewpub venture Hot Copper Pub Company buys two freeholds: A new venture, Hot Copper Pub Company, funded by Puma Investments, which will franchise brewpub chain Brewhouse and Kitchen’s operating format, has made its first two acquisitions. It has acquired the freehold of the Goat in Southampton from a private landlord and the head lease from Punch Taverns, and exchanged contracts to acquire Cambaz (formerly the Cup at Maney) in Sutton Coldfield. Brewhouse & Kitchen will be providing management services to Hot Copper and franchise its operation at the two freeholds. Both units will be converted to the Brewhouse and Kitchen brand by the end of November and will be fully operational and brewing in readiness for Christmas. Kris Gumbrell, chairman of Brewhouse and Kitchen, said: “Brewhouse & Kitchen has now fully committed its funding for the current year to its existing nine sites, but we are delighted to continue to be working closely with Puma Investments. Hot Copper Pub Company was created in the Spring of 2015 in readiness to acquire high quality freehold pubs and become a franchisee of the Brewhouse & Kitchen brand. We are delighted with these acquisitions, they will operate as part of overall estate and to the same high standards of quality and innovation that we expect within Brewhouse & Kitchen. We are also pleased to confirm we have now completed our first four full weeks of trade at our new Gloucester Quays pub, and the business is trading well ahead of our expectations. We are still actively looking for more opportunities, by the year-end we will have nine fully operational Brewhouse & Kitchen branded pubs with a further two under development and due to reopen in the Spring of 2016. We have had a transformational year and I am extremely proud of the team’s achievements, everyone has worked very hard and we are looking forward to 2016 in anticipation of acquiring further opportunities to build Brewhouse & Kitchen into an authentic and innovative leading pub brand.” The deal was brokered by Kevin Marsh, from the Savills Licensed Leisure Team in Southampton. Kris Gumbrell and Simon Bunn from Brewhouse & Kitchen will present at the Propel Multi Club Conference on Thursday 5 November. Multi-site pub, restaurant and foodservice companies can claim up to two free places by emailing Adam Dickinson on adam.dickinson@propelinfo.com
