Carluccio’s appoints new chairman: Carluccio’s, the 119-strong international Italian restaurant group, owned by Jagtiani Foundation, the family office of the owners of Landmark group, has appointed Carl Leaver as its new non-executive chairman. Leaver replaces Simon Kossoff, who stepped down from the role in July. Leaver is currently group chief executive of Gala Coral where he has led the turnaround of the business, culminating in an exit for the company’s private equity shareholders through the proposed merger with Ladbrokes. Prior to that he was director of international, home and e-commerce at Marks & Spencer and before that chief executive of De Vere Group. Carluccio’s chief executive Neil Wickers said: “With his international, leisure and retail background, I know Carl will be a fantastic addition to the team. I look forward to working closely with him as we take the business through its next stage of growth, both in the UK and overseas.” Leaver added: “I have long admired Carluccio’s and I am delighted to be joining this unique brand with its mix of hospitality and retail. I very much look forward to taking the business forward with Neil and his team.”
