Alex Reilley becomes chairman of Hubbox: Alex Reilley, co-founder and chairman of Loungers, has joined the board of Hubbox as non-executive chairman. Reilley joins the Richard Boon-led better burger business as it looks to grow its estate to 20 sites in the next four years. The West Country-based business, which was launched in St Ives, Cornwall in 2003, has recently opened its 6th site in the former Las Iguanas site on Whiteladies Road in Bristol. It is understood the group is on track to post turnover of £6m in its current financial year (y/e Dec 2017) and is set to reach ten sites towards the end of 2018. Current Hubbox non-executive chairman Mark Harper will remain on the board as a non-executive director. Speaking about the appointment of Reilley, Hubbox chief executive Richard Boon said: “Being a Bristol boy and having followed and admired the growth of Loungers from the out-set, I was lucky to meet Alex and to find he was also a Hubbox fan. Along the way I often used him as a sounding board and his advice was always clear and on point. With Alex now as chairman we have formalised this arrangement and his guidance will be invaluable in our next stage of growth. I look forward to working with him and we are all delighted to have him on board.” Speaking of his involvement in Hubbox Alex Reilley said: “Hubbox is a business I’ve been using as customer for the last six years and I’ve got to know Richard very well during that time .The Hubbox proposition is very strong and there’s the foundations of a good, well-structured management team in place led by Richard, who has a very clear idea about where he wants to take the brand. The business has funding in place for growth and is supported by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic board all of which make Hubbox a very exciting business to be involved with.” In January this year Hubbox received a £2.2m investment from Provenance Investment Partners to fund growth. Richard Boon will be present at the Propel Multi-Club conference on Wednesday 1 November at the Gloucester Millennium hotel in London.
