Early-bird opportunity to book place at Propel Multi Club Conference: As an attendee of previous Propel Multi Club events, we are offering you the first opportunity to book for our next Multi Club Conference on Wednesday, 1 November at the Millennium Gloucester hotel in London. Speakers include Simon Chaplin, head of restaurants at Christie & Co, who will provide an overview of the pub, restaurant, foodservice and hotel sector M&A landscape, current valuations in the market and the do’s and don’ts when attempting to attract investment or sell a hospitality business – and will provide insights on the range of investors currently seeking to invest in the sector. Darrel Connell, of investment fund Imbiba, will talk about investing in early-stage multi-site companies through Imbiba’s new £50m Growth Fund, whose advisory board includes Karen Jones, Graham Turner and Karen Forrester. Jeremy Simmonds and Matt Grech-Smith, founders of the Institute of Competitive Socialising brand Swingers, which combines crazy golf, high-quality bars and street food in the City of London, with a second site opening in early 2018, will talk about their brand, its USPs, future plans and the thinking behind the Institute of Competitive Socialising. Eric Partaker, co-founder of Chilango, will talk about the highs and lows of creating and expanding an innovative Mexican brand in the UK market during the past decade. Richard Boon, founder of Hubbox, which has received £3.4m of external investment, will talk about the company’s journey in expanding to six sites in the West Country by offering better “burgers, dogs and beer”. Nick Thistleton, founder and executive chairman of karaoke bar business Lucky Voice, will talk about the brand, its development, his learnings about leadership and people development, and his subsequent transition into executive coaching. Mark Sheasby, who is an elite sports “mind coach” and corporate cognitive performance coach, helping clients in England and premiership rugby, England and premiership football and county cricket, will talk about “the six habits of leaders who thrive and inspire in adversity”. Ron Pearson, partner at Bowmark Capital, which has successfully invested in Living Ventures and Las Iguanas in the past, will set out the reasons why the private equity company invested in premium bar and restaurant operator Drake & Morgan and how the brand is being supported to fulfil its potential in the UK market. Jonathan Swaine, managing director of Fuller’s Inns, will set out how the company has created a premium pub estate underpinned by service and training. Roger Wade, founder of Boxpark, with sites in Shoreditch and Croydon, will talk about the strategy behind the food and beverage offer at Boxpark and future plans.
