Galvin brothers to close Bistrot de Luxe but plan estate expansion and five new concepts: Michelin-starred chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin are to close their French restaurant Bistrot de Luxe in Baker Street on Saturday, 10 February. Chris Galvin said the brothers would use the opportunity to expand their other offerings and “launch a new concept for each of the next five years”. They said: “We have been proud to serve a loyal clientele for 12 years but in the world’s great cities things do not stand still. Tastes change and also, as creative chefs, we are restless and now want to do new things not just endlessly repeat the same style of cooking.” The Galvins said they would expand their other concepts – British cuisine as launched at The Athenaeum Hotel & Residences in Mayfair; the Green Man gastro-pubs; and urban restaurant brand HOP. There would also be further partnerships similar to the one with Tottenham Hotspur football club. The Galvins also plan to expand their overseas operations after launching their first international sites in Dubai last year. Chris Galvin said they would also use the opportunity to explore new concepts. He said: “We will not copy anything but we will take inspiration and develop new concepts in our own way and launch a new concept for each of the next five years.” All Bistrot de Luxe staff will be repositioned throughout the group. The brothers currently operate ten restaurants and two pubs in the UK under Galvin Restaurants and Galvin Pub Co.
