Exclusive – Dan Warne unexpectedly departs as Deliveroo UK and Ireland MD: Dan Warne, Deliveroo managing director for UK and Ireland, has unexpectedly left the business, Propel can reveal. Warne had led the UK and Ireland business since August 2014 and was also vice-president for global strategic partnerships. Warne is understood to have played a key role in the growth of the business in the UK and building key operator relationships. Deliveroo is believed to be searching for a successor for Warne, whose reasons for leaving are not known at this time. A Deliveroo spokesman said: “Dan Warne has left the business. We don’t comment further on personnel matters.” Prior to joining Deliveroo, Warne worked at Travelzoo, latterly as vice-president of business development – local deals, having joined in 2009 as business development manager. Before that he was business development manager for then mobile services company Orange, which subsequently merged with T Mobile to become EE, and account manager with Global Radio. Earlier this month Deliveroo revealed it is now working with more than 25,000 restaurants and takeaways across the UK. The company, which was launched in 2013, has also set up a new team that focuses on identifying restaurants in need of support – offering them a place in a local Editions delivery-only kitchen to keep them trading. Deliveroo has also launched a food procurement service that offers “big savings on raw ingredients”. The service allows restaurants to buy ingredients and supplies at reduced prices via bespoke deals negotiated by Deliveroo. Earlier this year, Amazon announced it was acquiring a minority shareholding in Deliveroo but the Competition and Markets Authority subsequently issued an initial enforcement order. The watchdog is inviting comments on the proposed deal ahead of its decision on the phase-one investigation.
