Leon to open first restaurant since EG Group acquisition with Kings Road launch: Natural fast food brand Leon is to open a site in London’s Kings Road next month – its first launch since the business was acquired by forecourt and roadside operator EG Group. The 28-cover, 1,340 square foot restaurant, will make a playful nod to its location, tailoring its exterior fascia colour to a royal blue in keeping with the area's look and feel. Leon said to enable a streamlined experience and improve customer service, this restaurant will be digital-first, with new kiosks for digital ordering and payments. The company added it sees digital as an enabler for its team to “deliver the Leon experience every time, freeing up team members to help guests with a smile and elevated level of service”. Managing director Glenn Edwards said: "We are excited to be opening our first Leon in the King's Road, a vibrant neighbourhood that appeals to locals and tourists alike. It's a privilege to open anywhere people gather and have a passion for food that tastes good and does you good. We've had our eye on this location pre the pandemic, so to be able to make it happen with the support from EG Group is fantastic.” Plant-based dish innovations and exclusive new menu developments and collaborations will also be unveiled at the Kings Road restaurant. Guests will also find Leon favourites such as carbon neutral burgers, gluten-free chicken nuggets, and grilled wraps. Leon said the restaurant would be the first of “many new openings”, including its recently announced debut drive-thru, in Gildersome, Leeds. EG Group acquired Leon in May this year. Last month, EG Group said Leon’s performance had been “pleasing” during its latest quarter and it plans to open in the region of ten locations by the end of 2021. EG Group was founded by the billionaire Issa brothers in 2001.
